I think I'm just going to have to give up on the website. I don't want to pay for the midnightmo.com site (and neither does my husband b/c it really is not his website anymore since I use it all the time) and the free midnightmo.hobby-site.com thing isn't working at all it seems.

The old midnightmo.com site will be up a few more weeks and then it is gone for now. I'll keep trying the free hosting hobby-site thing and let you know if it ever starts to work again. Maybe it's just some problem with the hosters, I don't know. I'm so frustrated. Unfortunatley free sites like Geocities just don't have the space and bandwith needed for my website.

anyhow, you can still download the Adobe ACrobat version for now. It's semi updated. through 2005 but doesn't include Jess. You will need Adobe REader and Winzip to open and view the guide. You can download these applications for free from online. Just do a google search for them.

    sorry guys.

    Meg

Oh, no!! That is my favorite site!! I even like it better than Curt's.

When are you taking it down for good?

How much does it cost to maintain? Maybe some of us can kick in and help with it -- it really is the most informative AG site I have ever seen.

Isn't there someone who will take the site over for you? How much is the monthly hosting fee? Its a wonderful site, I hate to see it go!

I have only ever been able to get onto this site once, but it is truly the best site I have ever seen. I agree, that maybe we could all contribute so that the site could remain online. I cannot currently even get to the site to download the adobe version. It sure would be a shame to lose all this valuable information.

I am really sad to hear that.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the time, effort and money you spent on the site. Without your site, we probably would not have collected Pleasant Company things as much as we have this last year! We owe so much to you for detailing so many things about Pleasant Company and American Girl!

I'm so sorry Meg that it has to come down. It was such a good information for all AG people new and old. I hope someday it will be back on somewhere. Thank you for all the help you have given many.

It's also that I really don't have loads of time to work on it now with the baby, and I'd rather spend the money it would cost to keep our domain name on doll stuff, baby stuff, or clothes for me. I'm not sure how much it is but it's enough that my husband doesn't want to spend the $$ anymore. Also since Fiona was born I'm working part time so finances are a little tight to begin with. This just seemed like the easiest sacrifice to make.

I'm hoping that we can put the web pages back up once I'm full time again (in about 5 years!) but then I could justify paying for a website name. We'll keep trying to get the free hosting domain name to work and look around for other places that are free with lots of space.

Curt probably does the same thing that we were doing, paying a fee to have a domain name. I'm pretty sure he has to be osme sort of professional website desinger b/c his site is so professional. I know from the experience doing my site that it's really hard. That's why my site looks a little like junk and never works, whereas his site always works and looks great.

Anyhow, thanks for offers to help pay, I just see that getting to confusing and I'd feel bad taking people's money too. The main thing is that it's just too much of a hassle to keep the website up. It crashes all the time b/c our computers here at home just can't seemt to handle all the hits (which i think it's great that so many people use the site) and it was just one more thing to keep up with. You should see how much laundry we have. With a whole new person who pees on everything there's now a lot to keep up with.

I'll forward this thread to my husband so he can see how much the site means to everyone. Maybe we can try to work something out. Or at least he might be able to find a better place to have free hosting. We'll see. I just wanted to give a heads up in case anyone wanted to get the acrobat file one last time....

    Meg

I'll change my signature link back to the one that works (or at least should work)

It looks like the website is 350 MB I'm not sure I'm looking at the right thing though. Does that sound correct to any really computer tech minded people?? I know how ot make a website but that's about it!

I use it more than the other site because the pictures are bigger and I can see all of the things that should be included with each outfit.

Oh this saddens me! I use both Curts' and your site! Your site has an edge as you list prices! I love that! I hope that something works out so we can keep it up!

If not, I understand. I do want you to know that your site is very much appreciated, very resourceful, and informational. My best wishes to you!
